Okay so today I am putting down my Dick Slaying sword to show respect to the man, the music, and the legend: Michael Jackson-August 29 1958-June 25th 2009. According to sources, Michael Jackson collapsed at his home. Paramedics were called and when they arrived on the scene, they discovered he was not breathing. After trying to resuscitate him for almost 20 minutes and still not being able to get him breathing, they rushed him to UCLA Medical Center, and continued to do CPR on him. The Doctors worked feverishly on Jackson but unfortunately discovered that their efforts were futile and the King of Pop was pronounced dead approximately 2:15pm Pacific Standard Time.

I was home logging into my Yahoo account when the yahoo posting read: Michael Jackson rushed to UCLA Medical Center after Paramedics were called into his home and discovered he was not breathing. I said “Got Dammit Mike, now what the hell are you up to?” Then I saw another Yahoo posting that said “Pop star reportedly in cardiac arrest”. I said “Oh my God, Mike no…”. I was just about to call my mother to ask her if she heard anything but she beat me to the punch. Not only had Michael Jackson passed away, but Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with cancer earlier that morning. Fawcett’s death was expected but Mike….talk about “Gone too Soon”… The effect of his death was the same as being shot in the back, I did not see it coming. My heart was broken. My heart is still broken. To say it out loud: Michael Jackson is dead, still does not sound right. In one week, we lost three great American stars: Ed McMahon on Monday, and the “Charlie Angel’s star and actress, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson on Friday.

Even after his death some people still do not know how to show respect. To say that Michael Jackson was an iconic Pop Artist in a freakish nature all in one sentence is mind boggling. This man has donated the entire proceeds he earned from his song “Man in the Mirror” to a charity to help fight famine in Africa. He donated $500,000 to the NAACP. His help with the song “We are the world” is the reason behind the Live 8 Concerts that go on to help donate money for less fortunate children all over the world. It’s a damn shame that with all of the giving and the many ways that he gave himself, he died alone. To slander this man in this time of tragedy and dirty every thing good he has done on this earth is more sinful than the ones he was accused of.

I choose to remember Michael Jackson for his legendary music, the songs that touched my life and continues to lift me up such as “Man in the Mirror,” Heal the World”, “Earth Song” and others. Other songs any fan of Michael Jackson’s knew the dance moves to such as “Billie Jean”, “Beat it”, “Thriller”, “Smooth Criminal”, and “Bad” will always make me want to get up and boogie threw my living room floor, put my socks on after the floors have been mopped and moonwalk my heart out. I’m still trying to figure out how the hell he did that lean in the music video for “Smooth Criminal”. He was a legend, an inspirational artist, gifted and giving and my God, he will be missed.

June 25th 2009 is definitely the day that music died and not even the greatest Micheal Jackson impersonator or imitations will be able to resuscitate it.
